1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. (please categorize the comments for each video/reading)
Beyond the great wave-  In this video Dr. Frank Feltens and Dr. Beth Harris discussed and analyzed two paintings. A woodcutter and a fisherman, two paintings by Katsushika Hokusai. Both these paintings, which are now incredibly famous, came about during Katsushika Hokusai life. He described how he sketched everything around him everyday since he was 6 years old and lived to 110 years old.
Early Photography: making Daguerreotypes: In this video the French sold the “recipe” of Daguerreotypes. Which is the earliest form of photographs in the nineteen century. This video covers the impact it had on the world and the amount of people that wanted to get their hands on this.
Jacques- Louis David  The Death of Marat: In this video, The oil canvas, the Death of Marat is discussed. This oil canvas was created in 1793 and is currently in The royal museums of fine arts in Belgium. The narrators Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker discussed this piece calling it “revolutionary” because it was created during the French revolution but also because it was depicting a contemporary event.
Manat- A Bar at the Folies Bergere- In this video the art piece A bar at the Folies was analyzed. This ouil canvas by Edouard Manet in 1882, takes place at a cafe, but the background of the cafe showed how crowded and chaotic it was. This art piece seems to be straightforward but the more you look at it the more, out of place things you find. For example when first looking at the picture it is to be believed that it is of a girl staring straight but in reality she's in front of a mirror and that can be seen by the shadow of the champagne bottles.
Delacroix, Liberty Leading the people - In this video the oil canvas painted in 1890, Liberty leading the people by Eugène Delacroix was discussed. This painting can be considered a contemporary painting because it was depicting the events occuring in 1830. The painting depicts the revolutionary battle happening in the city of Paris, in the painting no clear victor is shown.
Monet, Poplars: In this video the oil canvas, Poplars by Claude Monet created in 1891. Monet worked on this piece for 7 minutes, because it was the only time he had with the right lighting. After the 7 minutes, the light was too dark.  It took Monet countless days to finish this painting for this reason, he wanted the painting to depict those 7 minutes of light that only happened once a day.
Cassatt, The child's Bath: In this video the oil canvas The Child's Bath by Mary Cassatt created in  1893 was discussed. This painting is a rare painting of a mother and daughter, doing something that wasn't usually seen in art, taking a bath. This image is so rare because it is rarely seen in nineteen century art intimacy of a mother and daughter. Usually the image of a mother is seen as spiritually.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?
All these videos relate to the readings in the way that they both discussed Art in the nineteen century art that was much different then seen during the Baroque. I personally feel like this art was more personal and people related, more intimate in a way.
3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?
I loved these small films, they were all very interesting and detailed. My favorite was  Cassatt, The child's Bath, I never noticed that in Art the usual role of a woman/ mother was one of spirituality. These videos added depth to my understanding of the readings and art concepts by making me think further about the ideas being brought up.
