An Acquiring Mind: Philippe de Montebello and The Metropolitan Museum of Art: In this video the life of legendary Philippe de Montebello. Montebello was the director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art for 31 years. During his time as the director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, he guided the acquisition of around 84,000 major works of art. Montebello was in charge of the conservation of these art pieces and also the exhibition.
Live Q&A with MoMA Curator Anne Umland (April24) - In this video Anne Umland takes a tour of MoMA’s Picasso gallery while answering questions from the audience. She answered these questions very detailed, these questions ranged from design to layout and what is the process of the selection of art. The most important question asked was how to become a curator.
The Lowdown on Lowbrow: West Coast Pop Art- In this video the art Lowbrow is described as pop surrealism which is art expressing feelings using abstractism. Different forms of abstract art which include different shapes ,color and patterns.
2. Do the videos relate to the creation of your Art Exhibition project? If yes, explain how. If no, explain why not.
The videos do relate to the creation of the Art Exhibition project because they help with the selection of the artwork that I am going to display in my exhibition. These information that I learned will help me choose art works which relate to my art piece.
3. What is your opinion of the films? Do they add depth to understanding of the art concepts you practiced while creating your curation project?
My favorite out of the three films were The Lowdown on Lowbrow:West Coast Pop Art, this video really described my particular type of art. I am an abstract drawer and I am a lover of abstract art. It's what I identify with so therefore this video has taught me more about abstract art and Lowbrow.
