Fundamentals of art inquiry 

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

Jacob Lawrence- This video was an interview with artist Jacov Lawrence before the Harlem Renaissance. He speaks about the importance in how the artist depicts its people in their paintings, such as the color of their eyes, movements and surroundings. 

Faith Ringgold: Artist and Activist- The artist Faith Ringgold who fought very hard to get women and african american artists into museums. She spoke about the difference in treatment that she got and the treatment white men artists got. 

Romare Bearden: A Black Odyssey- In this video different artists and critiques discussed modern American artist Romare Bearden. They spoke about it being very modern for it time and ahead of it time. 

Fauvism- Overview- Goodbye Art Academy- In this video the differences artist was discussed. Artists such as Henri Matisse and Andre Derain, the difference in style in portrait. Both these artists are wonderful artists but both create different art work, with different color range, different line work etc. 

Amadeo Modilglini- Amadeo Modogliani was a sculptor and painter which was known for art ahead of his time in the 19th century. He was an expressionist artist. He developed a different way of art, making his art different and new. He was unlike artists in his time in the ways that he was an expressionist artist but he liked to paint indoors and painted portraits and nudes.

The best moments from Dolce and Gabbana- In this video, the temple of Concordia the Greek myth were discussed and the inspiration for Dolce and Gabbanas garments and first articles of clothing. Which were viewed as alta moda, high fashion. 

On Creativity interview with fashion icon Norma Kamali- In this video,  Norma Kamali a fashion icon discussed the fashion industry and how after evolving the fashion industry and the health and beauty industry are combined together as one. 

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

The text  and the videos relate in the way in which it discusses the inspirations for artists and how these artists further developed their art and gave major advancements to the art industry. 

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

I liked the films, they were very informational. My favorite film was “On creativity interview with fashion icon Norma Kamili” I never thought about the connection of the fashion industry and the health and beauty combined. I love that all these factors are being combined as one because they do heavily relate.
